NO. There are different types of officiants . I am an Independent Celebrant, which means in partnership with you, I can craft a completely personal, bespoke ceremony including religious content, in any place of your choosing. A registrar is employed by the local council and is legally bound to use standardised set format and structure. This is a verily short and often impersonal ceremony They can only officiate in certain hotels that have a special licence for registrar weddings.

At the moment , An independent Celebrant led ceremony must be preceded by the couple signing the legal forms at the registry office to legalise theri marriage. This is a simple pre - arranged basic 2:2 and can be done with little fuss in your lunch break. Take two friends as witnesses and prices vary depending on the day. Consider this as a trial for the big day.

In a nutshell, Celebrant led ceremonies are best known for giving you more choice and control. As an Independent Celebrant , I can completely tailor the ceremony to the couple's choice, I can include as much or as little religious content that the couple choose.eg a bible reading, hymns and prayers
